Jim Stamas is a life-long resident of Midland County.
He is the Owner and General Manager of Pizza Sam’s, the eatery in downtown Midland the Stamas family has owned for nearly 50 years.
Stamas is serving his second term on the Midland County Board of Commissioners, currently as vice-chair.
Prior to that he was a Midland Township Trustee from 1997-2004.
He currently serves on the boards of the Midland Downtown Development Authority, the Midland Downtown Business Association, and the Midland County Planning Commission.
Stamas holds his Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Northwood University.
He has served his country honorably in both the United States Army and the Michigan National Guard.
Prior to running the family business Stamas was self employed as a realtor and was a project manager at Case Systems.
Jim Stamas and his wife of nearly 24 years, Marsha, are members of the Messiah Lutheran Church. His children, Nickolas and Jessica, both attend Bullock Creek Schools.
As General Manager of Pizza Sam’s, Jim was the proud recipient of the Midland “Downtown Businessman of the Year Award” in 2006.
Recently, Jim was awarded the 2007 Excellence in Business Enterprise Award by the Midland Chamber of Commerce.
Stamas brings to Lansing the experience of not only a small business owner, but of a local elected official.
As Owner and General Manager of Pizza Sam’s, he has seen firsthand when the State and local governments work together, the local proprietors flourish.
He will bring a new perspective to the State level on what is best for the small business owners, businesses and all constituents of the 98th District.
